Rare There Is No Future The History of No Future Records Red Vinyl LP

No Future Records was a seminal British punk record label, active primarily between 1980 and 1984, that specialized in the "UK82" or "second wave" punk sound. Founded by Chris Berry, the label became a vital outlet for faster, heavier, and more disillusioned punk bands, often serving as a counterpoint to the more commercialized, established punk bands of the era. The History of No Future Records
  • Establishment (1980): The label was created to document the rising generation of punk bands that were flourishing outside of London, often bringing a more aggressive sound.
  • "UK 82" Sound: No Future is best known for defining the "UK 82" style—sometimes called "real punk"—which was characterized by high-energy, political lyrics, and a relentless tempo.
  • Key Artists: The label was home to prominent bands of the era, including:
    • Blitz: Known for anthems like "Someone's Gonna Die" and "Never Surrender".
    • The Partisans: Famous for "Police Story" and "17 Years of Hell".
    • Attak: Known for "Today's Generation" and "Murder in the Subway".
    • Red Alert: Known for "In Britain" and "Take No Prisoners".
    • The Violators, The Blood, The Insane, and Peter & The Test Tube Babies.
  • Compilation Releases: The label was adept at compiling its best work, with notable releases like It's a Country Fit For Heroes.
  • Closure: The label ceased new releases around 1984 as the scene shifted, with its legacy often compiled and reissued under the No Future: The Singles Collection series.
"There Is No Future..." Compilation (1984) There Is No Future... The History Of No Future is a 1984 compilation album that serves as a retrospective of the label’s peak output, released as a division of Cherry Red Records Ltd.
  • Format: Originally released as a Vinyl LP.
  • Legacy: The compilation is considered a definitive collection of the label's output, capturing the raw, nihilistic feeling of youth in early 80s Britain.
  • Modern Reissues: The label's history has been compiled in recent years, including the No Future: Complete Singles Collection - The Sounds Of UK 82 4CD set.
This album has a very small scratch on Side B, Track 1, but otherwise the platter is in excellent condition. The cardboard cover, which has been stored in a vinyl sleeve, shows some wear around edges and corners. There is slight staining on the front right of the cardboard cover.
