Rare Authentic USS IOWA BB61 First Decommissioning Ceremony Brochure March 1949

This extremely rare USS IOWA (BB61) First Decommission Ceremony Brochure dated March 24, 1949 is an original and  authentic brochure from the first decommissioning ceremony of the USS Iowa held in San Francisco, California, on March 24, 1949, and offers a unique glimpse into the history of this illustrious battleship. This brochure provides valuable information and imagery about the USS Iowa, offering detailed information about the ship's past up to that point, as the ship was placed back into active service a few years later.
While this Department of the Navy published brochure does have a few creases, folds, small tears and very light stains, including some rust from the original staples, it is generally in very good condition, and this brochure is a sought-after and extremely rare piece for collectors and enthusiasts of naval and USS Iowa memorabilia. It is likely that very few copies of this brochure are still in existence, as very few other copies of this brochure are to be found anywhere.
Item will be shipped via Priority Mail; buyers pays shipping.

From the Brochure:
Launched on 27 August 1942 in the New York Navy Yard, the U.S.S. IOWA (BB-61) officially became a unit of the Fleet at that same place on 22 February 1943, when Captain John L. McCrea, USN, read his orders accepting her command.  There followed her shakedown cruise and her first duty, the "Tirpitz Watch" in the North Atlantic, when German naval strength was still a challenge to the allied navies. New orders brought the IOWA a high honor, the wearing of the Presidential Flag as she transported the late President Franklin D. Roosevelt to North Africa for the historic Teheran Conference. While the Conference was in session, the ship was ordered to the safety of ports in Brazil and South Africa before returning to Dakar to embark the President for his trip back to the United States...
